


MIRPUR [AJK], Mar 02 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan on Tuesday urged the department concerned to take necessary measures for conservation of the natural environment and protection of wildlife.
“The AJK region is known for its beautiful forests, majestic mountains and lush green valleys that are home to hundreds of animals, plants and bird species. The wildlife, plants and birds have to co-exist side-by-side human beings to keep an ecological balance,” he asserted.
Speaking after a briefing given to him by Secretary Wildlife, fishers and Auqaf, Sardar Javed Ayub at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the AJK President said steps were being taken by the wildlife department in collaboration with the forests and other departments to preserve wildlife and to conserve habitat were appreciable, AJK President office said.
He asserted that they need to take more steps to protect migratory birds coming from Siberia and Russia and also to protect ibex, musk dear and other wildlife in Neelum Valley and other adjoining areas by conserving their natural habitat.
He said protection and conservation of the natural environment, wildlife habitat and the wildlife were the collective responsibility of all, and everyone should fulfil this responsibility by considering it as our national obligation.
Earlier, Secretary Sardar Javed Ayub told the AJK President that at present, eight national parks spread over 260,000 acres of land have been developed in different parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
These included Ghamot National Park and Musk Dear Park in Neelum Valley, Machiara National park in Muzaffarabad, Toli Pir park in Rawalakot, Pir Lasura park in Kotli, Deva Vatala Park in Bhimber, Maha Sher Park in Poonch river, and Azad Pattan Park in Kotli and Sadhnoti areas.
Giving details about cold water fish hatcheries, the Secretary Wildlife said Trout Experimental Unit at Patehka in Muzaffarabad, trout fish hatcher in Salkhala, trout fish hatcheries at Dawarian and Taobutt, warm water fish hatchery at Chakar in Jhelum Valley, Mangla fish hatchery in Mirpur and Maha Sher fish hatchery in Kotli are functioning.
Commenting on the briefing given regarding Tajweed-ul-Quran Trust, President Sardar Masood Khan said demand of increasing honorarium of teachers for seminaries being run by Tajveedul Quran Trust was justified.
In this regard, the department should take immediate steps so that the teachers imparting Quranic teachings in these seminaries could perform their duties without any financial difficulty.
He said the discrepancy in the number of seminaries operating in different districts under Tajweed-ul-Quran Trust should also be removed.
Besides Director Wildlife Naeem Iftikhar, Dar and Raja Mohammad Siddique, the briefing was attended by senior officials of the departments of religious affairs, Auqaf and wildlife.
MUZAFFARABAD, Mar 02 (APP):The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Tuesday while expressing his concern over the spreading of corona pandemic in Mirpur AJK appealed for adopting preventive measures against covid-19 and to cooperate with the administration in this regard.
He also appealed to expatriate Mirpurians to follow the SOPs and adopt precautionary measures while arriving to the home town Mirpur in view of the recent outbreak of pandemic.
Haider was of the view that corona virus is spreading with pace in Britain and said that the British Kashmiri from Mirpur should inform the government of Azad Kashmir before their arrival in Azad Kashmir so that preventive measures can be taken.
He said the government is collecting data at the airports to quarantine the overseas before sending them home which is ensuring their relatives safety, PM added.
KARACHI, Mar 02 (APP):Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Tuesday was briefed that a total of 67 Central Superior Service (CSS) posts were vacant in the Sindh province after the CSS exams of 2019.
Chairman Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Captain (Retd) Zahid Saeed while apprising a high-level meeting through video link at the Sindh Governor House, informed that only 1 to 2 percent candidates passed CSS exams from the Sindh province and because of that many CSS posts were vacant under the job quota.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Tariq Banuri through video link. Vice Chancellors of the all Public Universities of the province also attended the meeting.
FPSC Chairman Captain (Retd) Zahid Saeed further informed that merely 2 to 3 percent candidates passed the CSS exams in the country.
He said each province had been allotted the job quota under the constitution of 1973.
Later, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail while addressing the meeting said that the universities should draw attention of their students towards CSS exams.
He said they had to create awareness among youth to make them part of the federal bureaucracy.
He advised that there should be a FPSC representative or a desk at every university.
The chairman said people did not know about the process of applying for the CSS posts.
The governor said they all had to get the youth ready for filling vacant CSS posts in the province.
He also appreciated the Vice Chancellors for their hard-work.

LAHORE, Mar 02 (APP):Master Paints and DS Polo/ ASC recorded victories in the Master Paints Jinnah Gold Cup 2021 openers played here at the Jinnah Polo and Country Club (JP&CC) on Tuesday.
Marcos Panelo’s heroics helped Master Paints beat Remounts by a narrow margin of 5 1/2-5 in the first encounter of the opening day. Panelo was top scorer with a hat-trick while Juan Cruz Losada and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi scored one goal each. For Remounts, Ignacio Negri cracked a quartet and Vieri Antinori struck one.
The first match of the started with Master Paints having a half goal handicap advantage while they added three more back-to-back goals in their tally to take it to 3 1/2-0. Master Paints added one more in their account in the beginning of the second chukker to enhance their lead to 4 1/2-0. Remounts then made their presence felt by converting two back-to-back goals to reduce the margin to 4 1/2-2.
Master Paints ended the second chukker in style by firing in a field goal to further stretch their lead to 5 1/2-2. The third chukker was fully dominated by Remounts, who hammered a hat-trick of goals to reduce the deficit to 5 1/2-5, but they couldn’t convert more goals in the remaining third chukker as well as fourth and last one, thus lost the match by 5-5 1/2.
Hissam Ali Hyder and Max Charlton fired in fabulous five goals each to guide DS Polo/ASC to an emphatic 10-7 1/2 triumph over Newage/Rizvi’s in the second match of the opening day. For Newage/Rizvi’s, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Salvador Ulloa and Salvador Jauretche converted three goal apiece while Adnan Jalil Azam struck one.
Newage/Rizvi’s, having a half goal handicap advantage, were off to flying start as they hammered a hat-trick to gain a good 3 1/2-0 lead. DS Polo/ASC though converted one to reduce the margin to 3 1/2-1 yet Newage/Rizvi’s slammed in one more to further enhance their lead to 4 1/2-1. The second chukker was evenly poised, where both the sides converted two goals each, with Newage/Rizvi’s still enjoying 6 1/2-3 lead.
DS Polo/ASC turned the tables of the match in the third chukker, where they hammered a hat-trick against one by Newage/Rizvi’s to make 7 1/2-6. DS Polo/ASC dominated the fourth and last chukker by firing in fabulous four goals to win the match by 10-7 1/2.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), three matches will be contested. The first will be played at 2:00 pm between FG Polo and BN Polo, the second one will see Diamond Paints vying against Master Paints Black at 3:00 pm while Master Paints will compete against Risala in the third encounter of the day at 4:00 pm.
ISLAMABAD, Mar 02 (APP):The Supreme Court on Tuesday maintaining Sindh High Court’s order allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI’s) candidate Saif Ullah Abro to contest Senate elections from Sindh.
A three-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the case filed by petitioner Shahid Ali Rind.
The court directed petitioner Shahid Ali Rind to approach the concerned forum after the Senate election and disposed of the appeal filed against the decision of the Sindh High Court.
Saifullah Abro is the nominee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for the technocrat seat in the Senate election from Sindh.
The election tribunal had rejected Saifullah Abro’s nomination papers while the Sindh High Court annulled Election Tribunal’s decision and allowed Saifullah Abro to contest Senate election.
