Safe City Project to be completed soon: Senate informed

ISLAMABAD Nov 9 (APP) Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Baligh
Ur Rehman Monday informed the Senate that Safe City Project (SCP) launched in the Federal Capital would be completed soon.
Responding to a motion moved by Senator Samina Abid to discuss the
steps taken by the government to eliminate various crimes in Islamabad Capital Territory, he said the process of installing close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras across the Islamabad had been started and it would be completed soon.
So far, he said, CCTV cameras had been installed at all the Islamabad
roads including at entry points of the federal capital.
The Minister said crime rate in the capital had considerably decreased
with implementation on the National Action Plan (NAP).
Household Survey conducted by Islamabad police had also showed reduction in the crime rate, he added.
He said Islamabad police had strengthened Internal Vigilance System and action had also been initiated against the police personnel involved in corrupt practices.
Baligh Ur Rehman said that Islamabad police was conducing search operation on daily basis in different parts of the city.
He said the Islamabad Police and Rangers were jointly conducing patrolling in the city.
Those who took part in the discussion included Senator Sauusi Palijo, Khushbakht Shujat, Lt General (r) Abdul Qayyum and Tahir Hussain Mashhadi.
