Qatar may benefit from investment potential in tourism, infrastructure, energy sectors: Makhdum Khusro

ISLAMABAD, April 1 (APP):Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar Monday said tourism, energy and infrastructure sectors of Pakistan offer huge investment potential and Qatar can benefit from investing in these areas.
He was talking to a Qatari delegation headed by Sheikh Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani, Head of Qatar Investments Department and Head of Qatar Regional Investment Fund here. Board of Investment Chairman Haroon Sharif and senior officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.
The minister said the government is committed to ensure investor friendly environment for both local and foreign investors and in this regard is undertaking measures.
He said the government is also focusing on developing tourism sector whereby new tourist spots are being discovered and developed.
Makhdum Khusro said Qatar could invest in Gwadar industrial zone adding that Gwadar will emerge as the leading port for enhancing regional trade.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Imran Khan recently performed ground breaking of new Gwadar International Airport which will provide further impetus to the development of the city.
The minister further said Qatar can also invest in various road infrastructure projects in Pakistan adding that some projects under CPEC will be encouraged on BOT basis.
During the meeting, various projects related to different fields came under discussion for future collaboration between the two countries.
