ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (APP): Acting President Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the appalling and horrendous attack on Army Public School (APS) did not deter the resolve of the nation, instead it breathed a new life into national unity and solidarity.
It brought the whole spectrum of political and military leadership on one platform in the fight against dark forces of extremism and terrorism, he said in a message on the first anniversary of the dastardly attack on the innocent lives of Army Public School Peshawar.
“Let us reaffirm our commitment that the blood of innocence would not go in vain as we, as a nation, trounce the evils of terrorism and extremism and earn our rightful place in the comity of nations as a peaceful, prosperous, educated and a civilized country,” he added.
He said the National Action Plan was chalked out with complete unanimity of all the stakeholders to root out the menace of terrorism once and for all from our soil.
“It is a matter of great satisfaction that National Action Plan is progressing successfully and producing fruitful results as terrorists with their abettors, financiers and handlers are being hunted down in various areas of the country and being meted out due punishment,” a press release quoted him as saying.
It was with a heavy heart and great sadness that the nation marked the first anniversary of horrific terrorist attack and pay tribute to our martyred children whose supreme sacrifices strengthened the nation’s resolve to stamp out the scourge of terrorism and extremism from the country, he added.

The Acting President noted that the operation Zarb-e-Azb with complete support of the nation had broken the back of terrorists and was in its final phases.
“On this day, our hearts and thoughts go out to the martyrs of APS and their families. Let us resolve that the sacrifices of the APS martyrs would not go waste and we would not rest until the last terrorist is eliminated from our beloved homeland.,” he said, adding “The day calls for sending a powerful message that our children are not frightened and they are more determined than ever to end the ignorance of nefarious dark forces bent on creating fissures in the fabric of our society.”
