Support Ajmal instead of taking any action: Qadir

ISLAMABAD, Nov 5 (APP): Former leg-spinner Abdul Qadir on
Thursday urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to support Saeed Ajmal
instead of taking any action against him.
Was it the Indian pressure that was forcing the PCB to take action
against the off-spinner? he asked.
According to media reports, Ajmal could face disciplinary action
from the board for his comments on the International Cricket Council
(ICC) policy on bowlers with suspect bowling actions, including of
Indian spinners.
Reacting to it, Qadir said he felt the PCB issuing a show cause
notice to Ajmal after pressure from the Indian side. “If Ajmal wants his case to be taken to the ICC then the PCB should help him in this regard rather than issuing him a show cause notice,” he said.
Qadir said the politics had destroyed the PCB and therefore players
were at harm. “Show cause notices are issued on like and dislike basis
which is insane,” he said.
Talking about cricket, Qadir said the upcoming series of
Pakistan against Australia and England would be very tough as the conditions
over there would be totally opposite.
“The PCB must start planning for these series now,” he said adding
even Yasir Shah could be troubled in the conditions in Australia and England.
Speaking about Pakistan’s Test series victory against Australia, he said the credit went to the whole team. “I had earlier said the conditions in the UAE don’t support the English team and Pakistan had an upper hand to win the series. English team is not used to the hot weather and previously also Pakistan had whitewashed England in the Test series there in 2012, therefore, the pressure was on the visitors,” he said, adding Muhammad Hafeez displayed an outstanding performance in the third Test.
Qadir said it was also Younis Khan’s good performance in the Tests that had forced the selectors to include him in the ODIs.
