Poverty threat to national, regional, int'l security: Marvi


ISLAMABAD, Mar 15 (APP): Minister of State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon Tuesday said poverty was a threat to national, regional and international  security. Poverty, she said, undermined a country’s ability to fight disease,  protect environment and respond to disasters effectively, besides making the affected people vulnerable to crime and terrorism. Marvi Memon, who is also Member of the National Assembly, was addressing as a guest speaker at the round-table discussion titled “Poverty management and its effect on regional stability” at International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) in London.
