ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP):Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has recommended removal of Islamabad High Court judge, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui from his office over his controversial speech in District Bar Association, Rawalpindi.
A five-member SJC bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, heard the case.
The 39-page opinion penned by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa would be sent to President Dr Arif Alvi for further action.
According to the recommendations, Justice Siddiqui, had displayed conduct unbecoming of a Judge of a High Court and was, thus, guilty of misconduct and he was, therefore, liable to be removed from his office under Article 209(6) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973.
Justice Siddiqui was facing a case of alleged misconduct filed against him in the wake of his controversial speech targeting the superior judiciary and a ‘state institution’ on July 21, 2018.
