LAHORE, Oct 4 (APP): Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Monday said that unity among the political leadership was a clear message to India that Pakistani nation stood united against any kind of foreign aggression.
Addressing a ceremony at the residence of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq, here, he said the meeting of the parliamentary leaders under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had strengthened the resolve of the nation, adding that collective wisdom helped achieve bigger goals.
Chairman ETPB Siddiq-ul-farooq, Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly member Nasir Dar, minority MPAs Kanji Ram, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Former Bishop of Lahore Alexander John Malik, Urdu Digest Editor Altaf Hassan Qureshi, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, senior journlists and ETPB board members were also present on the occasion.
Acknowledging the contribution of Hindu, Sikh and Christian communities, he said, “Pakistan also belongs to the non-Muslims and if they stand united, nobody can defeat us.”
Vis a vis, the holy month of Muharram, the Punjab Governor said the first month of the Islamic calendar signified the spirit of martyrdom, adding, “Our armed forces are full of the spirit of martyrdom and have told that the Indian forces cannot face them.”
He said threat should not be reciprocated by a threat and stressed the need for diplomacy to browbeat the enemy on the diplomatic front.
Rafique Rajwana said Pakistan was making progress by leaps and bounds while there were no mega-scandals against the government, adding that the opposition had the right to protest and the small protests would go on without much effect till the next general elecions.
Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana said that self-accountability and adherence to the constitution were vital to resolve all problems and issues.
In his welcome address, ETPB Chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq said Sikhs, Hindus and Christians were patriotic Pakistanis, adding that all-out efforts were being made to facilitate the yatrees from across the world. He said the ETPB had been endeavoring to improve the facilities for the Sikhs and Hindus in the country.
The minority leaders including Ramesh Singh Arora, Kanji Ram and Alexander John Malik, in the address to the ceremony, said that Pakistani Hindus, Sikhs and Christians were ready to defened their homeland, if India imposed war on Pakistan.
