Malaysian PM conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi Friday conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civil award of Pakistan, on Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Mahathir bin Mohamad in recognition of his extraordinary services and contribution to steadfast friendship.

The highest civil honour was conferred on the visiting Malaysian prime minister at a special investiture ceremony held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, federal ministers, parliamentarians, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, diplomats and members of the delegation accompanying the Malaysian prime minister who arrived here Thursday on three-day visit.

According to the citation, Mahathir Mohamad, the seventh prime minister of Malaysia, played extraordinary role to transit Malaysia from an agrarian society to the world class industrial power.

During his period, Malaysia made great stride in public sector, public private partnership, and iconic visionary leadership.
