AIOU encourages youth to develop community-based projects

ISLAMABAD, Dec 20 (APP): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon hold a national exhibition providing an opportunity to young researchers to display their community-based projects comprising new invention in the field of science and technology.

It aimed at encouraging young scientists to come up with creative and innovative ideas in their respective disciplines to help the society to overcome socio-economic problems, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Shahid Siddiqui.

They will be invited to display their community-based projects at the exhibition. It will be competition among the students. Winners will be awarded special prizes, said a news release.

Besides students of AIOU, those from other educational institutions will also be allowed to participate.

The University has already set up a separate office of research, innovation and commercialisation (ORIC) to maintain liaison with industrial sector to share with them latest research in relevant fields.

AIOU has laid special focus on research-based activities, by regularly publishing research journals and holding seminars and conferences on the relevant topics. It has given a special incentives package to its academicians for this purpose.
