LONDON, Sep 11 (APP):Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, passed away here at the Harley Street Clinic on Tuesday at about 10 am (local time), family sources said.
She was suffering from cancer and was under treatment for the past two months. She had remained on ventilator and other life support equipment.
Her sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz in the afternoon confirmed the death of their mother to the media persons outside the clinic. They, however, did not reply to the questions about her burial. Former finance minister Ishaq Dar
was also accompanying them.
A number of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers were also present outside the clinic.
According to local PML-N sources, the dead body of Begum Kulsoom would be shifted to the family’s London residence after completing the legal requirements at the clinic.
Pakistan High Commission London official Asif Khan, who visited the Harley Street Clinic on behalf of the High Commissioner, told the media persons that every possible assistance would be provided to the family for repatriation
of Begum Kulsoom’s body to Pakistan or transporting it from the hospital to their residence for burial in London.
Begum Kulsoom was diagnosed with lymphoma (throat) cancer in August 2017. She had undergone several sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
