Saqlain advises Amir to stay focused, positive

ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP): Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq hasadvised young pacer Mohammad Amir to stay focused and calm on his return to international cricket.
Talking to private news channel, former bowling great said that Amir should get all the backing to help him forget the past and yet again start his international career with a positive mind.
“He has made a mistake and has completed his punishment now it is time to forget and forgive and move on,” he added. He said that majority of the people, including the ICC [International Cricket Council] and many Pakistani cricketing stars like Imran Khan and Wasim Akram have lent their backing for Amir’s return.
Replying to a question about `doosra’, Saqlain said that he did not agree with Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s observation that it was extremely difficult to bowl doosra without bending the arm.
“May be those who say `it is not possible to bowl with a straight arm’don’t know it. With perfect practice and proper grip, one can bowl the delivery legally,” he clarified.
Saqlain was also confident that Pakistan would bounce back with full energy as a team since they still have attacking bowlers like Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah while Mohammad Amir is back now.
“Our batsmen’s mentality needs to be aggressive and positive”, he added.
Replying to another query, Saqlain said that the sub-continent teams would do well in the World Twenty20 Cup to be held in India and picked the hosts and Sri Lanka as favorites.
