KARACHI, Sep 25 (APP):Federal Minister for Information Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Tuesday said setting up of a regulatory authority is under consideration of the government to modernize information technology in the country and the announcement in this regard will be made soon.
After inaugurating a three-day 18th ITCN Asia IT and Telecom Show and
Fire and Safety Asia here at Karachi Expo Centre, while talking to media there, the minister said Pakistan had lost many opportunities for IT growth since 1990. The growth of IT in Karachi is the key to country’s prosperity.
The minister said that ITCN Asia exhibition had importance for promotion
of information technology, said a statement.
Khalid Maqbool said Pakistan could only compete in the world by adopting
modern information technology. The government wanted to digitalize Karachi and other areas of the country.
He hinted at, that the government would provide free WiFi connections
for students to promote healthy activities.
After inauguration, the federal minister visited various halls and also
addressed at a conference on “Role of IT and Challenges in China Pakistan Economic Corridor.”
