Onboard Special Flight, Oct 13 (APP): Special Assistant
to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi Thursday said Pakistan enjoyed very cordial and historic relations with the landlocked Central Asian Republics (CARs) blessed with natural resources of energy and they could serve as gateway to the Europe.
He said Pakistan was strengthening its ties with these
states as part of the Prime Minister’s vision of a foreign policy driven by economic and investment opportunities.
Talking to APP, Fatemi said Pakistan and these states including Azerbaijan could benefits from the vast investement opportunities through mutual cooperation.
Referring to the visit of Belarussian President as indicative of the enhanced relationship , the special assistant said air links could be established between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
About Pak Azerbaijan ties, Fatemi highlighted both countries showed solidarity on certain issues. Azerbaijan always supported Pakistan on Kashmir issue whereas Pakistan endorsed its stance on Nagorno Karabakh.
To a query about postponment of South Asian Association
for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Islamabad, he replied that India had a track record of sabotaging SAARC meetings in the past and had tried to pressurize the smaller countries of the region, adding Pakistan was alive to all such tactics and pursuing a robust foreign policy.
