ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (APP): The re-survey for National Socio Economic Registry (NSER) update would be conducted in each and every corner of the country to register all households against socio-economic indicators.
National Socio Economic Registry contains data of entire population. It is a national asset vital for designing welfare programs for all segments of society, Minister of State
and Chairperson BISP, Marvi Memon said on Tuesday during her surprise visit to Bahawalpur for spot checks where registration desks for BISP’s new poverty survey have been set up.
She said it is our national responsibility to be part of this
re-survey exercise irrespective of social and economic status.
The pilot phase of BISP’s new poverty survey started from Haripur in June 2016.
Bahawalpur is the second district where desk approach (Self Registration) has been adopted for registration.
Around 288 counters would be setup in 104 Union Councils (UCs) of Bahawalpur on basis of estimated case load of 467,527.
Till date, registration process has started in four UCs namely UC-1, UC-11, UC-15 and UC-18 through eight counters that have registered 59 % of the expected case load. The
registration process in Bahawalpur would be completed by January 2017.
Chairperson BISP visited registration sites to ensure smooth registration process through on spot inspection and feedback from officials and people coming for registration.
She instructed the concerned officials to facilitate people as much as possible and highlighted that complaints can be made at BISP Hotline No. 0800-26477.
The Chairperson acknowledged support from the local government in terms of logistics, security and social mobilization and said BISP, NADRA and local government were working as a team for the efficient and timely completion of re-survey in Bahawalpur.
She asked the public whether rich or poor to participate in registration process as the data would be used by other government organizations as well besides BISP.
The BISP will use this data for providing financial assistance to deserving families while other organizations may utilize the data for planning and designing development programmes in field of vocational trainings, micro-finance schemes, education and health sector.
The pilot phase of re-survey includes 16 districts across the country. Desk Approach is being employed in four districts while in 12 districts, Door to Door Approach will be utilized.
Desk approach survey will start in Naseerabad and Sukkur during this month and will be completed by January 2017.
