Kashmir issue being vociferously raised at world fora: Maleeha

ISLAMABAD, July 16 (APP): Pakistan Ambassador to the
United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi Saturday said Pakistan was very firmly raising the grave human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

It was urging the world community to play its role for
the earliest resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with the
wishes of the Kashmiri people and the UN resolutions, she added.

Maleeha Lodhi, in a private news channel programme, said
the recent wave of suppression and aggression by the Indian
occupational forces in the valley was an illegitimate attempt
to quell Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Despite Indian atrocities, she said, the Kashmiri people
were determined to continue their struggle for freedom and had been waging the struggle against the foreign forces in the last 70 years.

Maleeha said implementation of the UN resolutions was
the only way to solve the long-standing issue.

She said under the direction of the Prime Minister, the
international community at the United Nations was being kept abreast with the latest situation in the IOK.

The ongoing Indian atrocities were alarming for the
whole region, she said, adding that she also conveyed to the
UN General Secretary, Pakistan’s serious concern over the
human rights violations in the IOK.

India was being pressurized to resolve the issue through
effective diplomacy at the international fora, she added.

Maleeha lamented that India was neither ready to talk to
Pakistan over the issue nor was serious in implementing the UN resolutions.

India even did not respond to the UN Secretary General’s
offer to mediate over the issue, she added.

To a query, she said Pakistan would continue its diplomatic
and moral support to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and just cause for freedom.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN said India was levelling
false allegations to divert attention from the grave situation
in the IOK, but it would have to come to the table for the
peaceful resolution of the issue.

She said Pakistan’s role against terrorism was also
lauded at the world fora and the international community
acknowledged its sacrifices.
