WAPDA players shine in 5th Asian Beach Games


LAHORE, Oct 4 (APP): Wapda players showed brilliant performance while representing their country during the 5th Asian Beach Games held at Danag, Vietnam from September 23 to October 3, 2016 and brought laurels for the country by winning a number of medals.

Pakistan secured two gold, three silver and six bronze medals in these games. Out of them, one gold, one silver and four bronze medals were contributed by Wapda players who have the honour to represent their country, said a spokesman of Wapda here on Tuesday.

The medal winners are Muhammad Inam Gold Medal in Wrestling (Men’s under 90 kg), Ahmad Butt Silver Medal in Ju-Jitsu (Men’s+94 kg), Humaira Ashiq and Maryam Bronze Medal in Ju-Jitsu (Show System Women (Duo), Beenish Khan Bronze Medal in Ju-Jitsu (Newaza Women’s-70kg), Maryam Bronze Medal in Ju-Jitsu (Show System Mixed) and Men’s Bronze Medal in Beach Handball (Men’s Team) While congratulating the Wapda players on their impressive performance in the 5th Asian Beach Games, WAPDA Sports Board has expressed the hope that Wapda players would continue to bring laurels to Pakistan in the international events in future as well.
