Govt allocates Rs 41,000 m for Railways Division

ISLAMABAD, June 3 (APP): The Federal Government has allocated Rs 41,000 million for executing 43 development projects of Railways Division in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2016-17.
According to the budgetary documents released on Friday, the government has specified 36,661.526 million for 34 ongoing schemes of Ministry of Railways and Rs 2,450.200 million for two new schemes.
The government has earmarked Rs 1,888.274 million for seven schemes of Pakistan Railways Under China-Pak Economic Corridor (CEPC).
Out of the allocations of ministry’s ongoing schemes Rs 14,000 million has been allocated for procurement and manufacturing of 75 new DE locomotives.
Rs 3,830 million has been earmarked for procurement and manufacture of 780 high speed bogies (hopper) wagons and 20 bogies brake vans for coal transportation Phase-I.
The government has allocated Rs 2,000 million for reconstruction of assets damaged during the flood 2010 and Rs 900 million for rehabilitation of 300 traction motors.
Rs 2,200 million has been earmarked for special repair of 100 locomotives and Rs 2,500 million for track rehabilitation on Khanpur-Lodhran section.
Regarding the new schemes of the Ministry of Railways, Rs 2331.701 million has allocated for coal transportation by rail to Jamshoro Power Plant and Rs 2450.200 million for procurement and manufacture of 830 high capacity bogies freight wagons and 250 passenger coaches.
Under CEPC, the government has earmarked Rs 1,168 million for doubling and improvement of existing track from Port Qasim to Qasim Station and Rs 300 million for rehabilitation and upgradation of ML-I including acquisition of land for new Dry Port at Buldhair, District Haripur.
