LONDON:Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Mohammad Nafees Zakaria on Thursday said the launch of new visa regime for around 175 countries by Prime Minister Imran Khan would boost tourism and investment in Pakistan leading to its socio-economic prosperity.
He was addressing a gathering of British-Pakistanis and locals, who witnessed live the formal launch of the e-visa trial facility for five countries from Pakistan here at the High Commission.

Nafees Zakaria said under the new visa policy the citizens of around 175 countries would be able to apply for the e-visa, which was presently available for the people of Turkey, China, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
He said the Almighty had blessed Pakistan with abundant beautiful snow clad high mountains, lush green valleys and scenic landscapes, besides many historic and cultural sites, which were a source of attraction for foreign tourists.
The new e-visa policy would go a long way in promoting tourism, he added.
He called upon the British Pakistanis to play their vital role and supplement the government efforts for the promotion of tourism and investment in Pakistan.
He also urged them to take optimum benefits from the business friendly policies of government and make investments in various sectors, including tourism, in Pakistan.
He also urged them to woo other British nationals, including businessmen and investors, to explore opportunities in Pakistan and assured his full cooperation in that regard.
The high commissioner said he would soon prepare a road map and share it with the Pakistani media for the promotion of tourism and investments in Pakistan.
Talking to APP, Amjad Khan President UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UKPCCI) and its General Secretary Waheed ur Rehman Mian appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan for granting launch of e-visa facility for around 175 countries, which hopefully would uplift tourism in Pakistan.
Muzaffar Chaudhry of the Best Way Group UK also appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government for taking lead by launching the important initiative.
