QUETTA, Sept 13 (APP): A policemen was martyred and 10 persons, including six police personnel, were injured as a patrolling vehicle was hit by a remote-controlled bomb blast in Sariab Mill area of the provincial capital Tuesday.

According to police, unknown persons had planted the bomb on roadside in Sariab Mill area to target the policemen. “The culprits detonated the bomb when a police vehicle was passing through the area,” police official Abdullah Jan said.

He said at least 11 persons, including seven police personnel,
received injuries, who were shfited to hospital by rescue teams.

One of the policemen succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, Jan added.

According to bomb disposal squad, some six kilogram explosive material was used in the blast. The blast was apparently caused by an improvised explosive device, they said.

Police official Jan said it was time of change of duty of police personnel when their vehicle was targeted.

The blast was heard at far off areas while windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered. It created panic among people.

The law enforcement agencies cordoned off the entire area to trace the suspects.
