AIOU to introduce LLB degree program from next semester

ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has
decided to introduce some new academic programs for professional up-gradation including LLB, M.Phil Library Science and bachelor degree in fine arts.
This was announced by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Sididqui,
addressing 2nd phase of indigenous on-campus training workshop,
arranged in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, said a news
release Monday.
Work on launching these degree levels has already been started, the VC
said and reiterated the AIOU being public sector institution was committed to facilitate people to upgrade their professional qualification.
“We are negotiating with Pakistan Bar Council to launch the LLB program
from next semester according to set standard and the prevailing practices,” he added.
Shahid Siddiqui said, face-to-face classes would be arranged for this
program. Initially, this facility would be available for the students of Rawalpindi and Islamabad region.
The M. Phil Library Science program would also be launched from next
semester to meet the requirement of the librarians to improve their professional skill. Similarly, BS four-year program will be introduced in science disciplines, including biology, statistic and mathematics.
Dr. Shahid Siddqui further said that they were in negotiation with the
National College of the Arts for its cooperation to start Fine Arts classes.
This, he added would add diversity to existing academic programs, making
the AIOU a true learning multi-faceted organization.
About the LLB program, the VC said the members of legal community
including the bar councils will be involved in running the program in an
efficient manner.
