The Lahore city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 61 on Sunday, placing it in the “moderate” category, which indicates that air quality was generally acceptable but could still pose a minor risk to sensitive individuals.

LAHORE, Apr 05 (APP): The Lahore city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 61 on Sunday, placing it in the “moderate” category, which indicates that air quality was generally acceptable but could still pose a minor risk to sensitive individuals.
Despite this relatively stable AQI level, the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) remained a concern, measuring 2.9 times higher than the annual guideline value recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
This elevated PM2.5 level suggests the continued presence of harmful microscopic pollutants in the air, which can penetrate deep into the lungs and potentially affect respiratory health, particularly among children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions. While overall air quality showed some improvement compared to more polluted days, the figures highlight the need for sustained efforts to control emissions and improve environmental conditions in the city.
