RAWALPINDI, Mar 07 (APP):A meeting was held in chair of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani at Police Lines Headquarters with procession organizers, religious scholars, members of the peace committee and representatives of the traders’ association to review security arrangements for Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA).
The meeting was also attended by SSP Operations, SSP Investigation, Chief Traffic Officer, SP CIA, divisional SPs and SDPOs. The participants discussed comprehensive measures to ensure peaceful observance of the day across the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the CPO said the police, district administration and civil society would work in close coordination to make the arrangements effective.
He appreciated the role of scholars, procession organizers, community elders and traders in maintaining exemplary peace in Rawalpindi.
He said Rawalpindi Police would ensure strict security arrangements and stressed that public cooperation would remain vital, as always. Participants of the procession will be allowed entry only after passing through walk-through gates and complete body searches, he added.
The CPO further said snipers would be deployed on rooftops along procession routes, while monitoring would be carried out through Safe City and other surveillance cameras. Organizers assured the police that all processions would adhere to the approved routes and schedules.
The joint special pickets have been established by Rawalpindi and Islamabad police at various points with heavy deployment of officers and personnel. Search, sweep and combing operations are also underway around sensitive locations.
Police would ensure coordinated security arrangements at imambargahs, mosques, churches and other sensitive and important places across the city.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the safety of the country and the maintenance of peace and order, a police spokesperson added.
