Commissioner visits Tehsil Revenue courts

SARGODHA, Mar 27 (APP): Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Friday took notice of delays and poor handling of cases in revenue courts, issuing a show-cause notice to the Tehsildar Sargodha and ordering action against a Naib Tehsildar under the PEDA Act.
During a surprise visit to the Assistant Director Consolidation of Revenue (ADCR), Assistant Commissioner and Tehsil offices in Sargodha, he reviewed records of revenue court cases and examined several cases in detail.
Officials said multiple instances of delays and procedural flaws surfaced during the inspection drawing the commissioner’s displeasure.
He directed that distribution cases be decided within 60 days in line with the law, warning that cases exceeding the time frame would be transferred to the Assistant Commissioner’s court, along with strict departmental action against the officials concerned.
The commissioner also instructed Assistant Commissioners to monitor the performance of revenue courts on a daily basis and review the work of Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars regularly.
Emphasizing transparency, he called for the use of digital tools, including recording of evidence to ensure efficiency in case proceedings.
He further stressed the need to improve recovery of government dues, directing officials to meet targets for water rates, agricultural income tax and other revenues.
Senior officers, including the ADCR and Assistant Commissioner, were also present on the occasion.
