Saindak: Driving development in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (APP): The Saindak Copper-Gold Project in Chagai, Balochistan, is a major mining venture rich in copper, gold, and silver. Operated by MCC in partnership with Pakistan, it fuels the province’s economic growth, generates employment, and transforms mineral wealth into tangible opportunities for local communities.
In 2024, Pakistan’s copper exports, led almost entirely by Balochistan’s Saindak mine, surpassed $800 million, a record high and one of the most successful years in the project’s history.
Over 20 years, Saindak has produced 290,000 tons of copper, generating nearly US $2.6 billion in foreign exchange.
As many as 1,900+ direct jobs have been created, providing stable employment for local families and empowering youth in remote regions.
The project supports schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, bringing modern facilities to surrounding villages.
Saindak demonstrates how responsible mining can uplift communities while contributing meaningfully to Pakistan’s economy.
Recent expansions in ore-processing capacity signal continued investment and long-term development for Balochistan. Water and electricity projects implemented by Saindak have improved living standards for nearby communities.
Technical training programs at Saindak equip local youth with mining and industrial skills, preparing them for future careers.
Local businesses thrive by supplying goods and services to the project, boosting the regional economy.
The Saindak fosters community engagement, including support for cultural events and social welfare programs.
