ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorms and thunderstorms at several places across the country on Thursday, with chances of hailstorms in isolated areas.
According to the forecast, northeastern and southern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunder.
Isolated rain-thunderstorms are also likely in central and northeastern Punjab, including the Pothohar region, while partly cloudy conditions are expected in other parts of the country.
The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall at isolated places may increase water flow in local streams and nullahs of Kharan, Turbat, Kech, Noshki, Panjgur, Gwadar and Pasni from tonight through March 26.
In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is expected during morning and afternoon hours, with a 45 percent probability.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts will remain partly cloudy, with chances of rain and thunderstorms at isolated places including Waziristan, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Bannu, Kohat, Swat and Abbottabad.
Punjab is likely to witness partly cloudy weather, with rain-windstorms and isolated hailstorms expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Gujrat, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas.
Sindh will remain largely partly cloudy, with chances of light rain in Karachi and adjoining areas during morning hours.
In Balochistan, rain-windstorms and thunderstorms are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Turbat and coastal areas of Makran, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely in northern districts.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to experience cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms.
Over the past 24 hours, partly cloudy weather prevailed in most parts of the country, while rain-thunderstorms were recorded at isolated places in northern Balochistan, upper and western Punjab, and lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Joharabad (14mm) and Quetta (12mm).
The highest temperatures recorded on Wednesday were 38C in Mithi and 37C in Shaheed Benazirabad, Chhor and Sakrand, the Met Office added.
