PM launches spring plantation drive, inaugurates forest reserve in Baloki

BALOKI (Nankana Sahib) , Feb 9 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday launched the Spring trees plantation drive as part of ‘Plant for Pakistan’ campaign in Baloki, Nankana Sahib, besides inaugurated the establishment of Baloki Natural Reserve Forest.The Prime Minister accompanied by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Federal Minister for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam planted a ‘Ficus virens’ sapling to kick start the campaign.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister was given a briefing. The Prime Minister expressed his concerns over the dwindling forest cover in the country.
He also inquired about the status of Changa Manga forest land and said that the forest land in Kundian, Mianwali and Cheechawati had been denuded of forest cover.
For the first time in the history of Pakistan, a plantation campaign under the banner of ‘Plant for Pakistan’, a step towards “10 Billion Tree Tsunami’ has been launched on 2,500 acres of reclaimed land in Baloki, Punjab province.
