ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (APP): The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has completed investigations into 2196 major cybercrime cases in which 2902 accused were arrested while convictions were obtained in 774 cases during the year of 2025.
According to the annual report, Rs461 million were recovered from victims of online fraud and financial crimes this year. More than 46 thousand fake bank accounts and digital wallets were frozen while 5 major local and international cybercrime networks were dismantled.
Similarly, 35 arrests were made in Operation Brown against online exploitation of children. It said that the NCCIA has introduced a cyber intelligence system based on modern AI and machine learning, for which more than 300 officers are being provided with advanced cyber investigation training.
The cybercrime awareness campaign reached 2 million citizens and more than 30 advisories were issued on phishing, identity theft and crypto fraud.
The NCCIA has further strengthened its cooperation with other international organizations including Interpol and has also announced the launch of a National Cybercrimes Reporting Portal next year. In this regard, it has been decided to form joint investigation teams with key economic sectors.
