Ensuring quality of education top priority of government: Marriyum

ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP): Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IB&NH), Marriyum Aurangzeb Sunday said improving public sector education system and providing modern facilities to the students, equal to the private sector, was top priority of the incumbent government.
The minister was talking to newsmen here after attending a ‘Fun Fair’ ceremony of a local school.
She said steps were being taken under the Prime Minister Education Reforms programme with consultation of advisory council to improve the quality of education and professional capacity of teachers in government educational institutions.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that under Prime Minister Education Reforms programme, for the first time private sector schools administration has been included into public sector schools reforms in 422 schools and colleges in Islamabad.
The vision of the PM is to improve the existing physical infrastructure, improve quality of education, teachers capacity building and professional development and provision of transport facility, she said.
The State Minister said that 25 school buses had been provided for public sector schools, while more vehicles would be added as soon as the new educational year would start in the federal capital.
The ‘birth anniversary’ of Qauid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she said, would be celebrated with zeal and zest this year, adding different events would be organized and special programmes would be arranged in educational institutions throughout the week in this regard.
She said the parents of the children, studying in private sector were also playing a key role to improve their children’s contacts with public sector schools children that was providing an opportunity to the students to learn from each other.
The minister said that upto matric level education was compulsory for every citizen as per the Constitution, adding the government was taking serious steps to ensure maximum admissions of children in schools.
First time in the history of the country, she said, the government was establishing language labs, besides computer and science laboratories in government educational institutions.
To a question, she said the ratio of admissions in public sectors schools had significantly increased due to the comprehensive steps taken by the current government to improve quality of education.
To another query regarding the PakTurk School System, Marriyum
Aurangzeb said no student of this system would be affected by the
current policy.
