Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated across country on Saturday

ISLAMABAD, Mar 20 (APP): Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed nationwide on Saturday with traditional zeal and fervour. Congregational prayers are scheduled at mosques, Eidgahs and open venues, where Ulema will deliver sermons highlighting the spiritual significance and philosophy of the festival.
Eid traditionally begins with mass prayers in open areas, bringing families and friends together for worship and festivities. The occasion follows the month-long fasting of Ramazan, one of the five pillars of Islam, and is marked by acts of charity, with Muslims encouraged to support the poor during the celebrations.
Celebrations begin in the country in morning with men offering prayers at mosques and public gathering places. Families then don new festive attire, visit relatives and friends, and exchange greetings of “Eid Mubarak.”
Gift-giving and charity form a central part of the festivities. Children eagerly receive Eidi—a traditional gift of money—and enjoy shopping for new clothes, while families observe Zakat al-Fitr by donating food or money to those in need. Traditional sweets and festive dishes are a hallmark of Eid celebrations.
Special prayers will be offered for the country’s progress, prosperity and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah. In Islamabad, the main Eid congregation will be held at Faisal Mosque.
The blend of rich treats, warmth and joyful gatherings makes Eid a memorable occasion for the young.
Strict security measures have been enforced across the country on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. In Islamabad, police have drawn up a comprehensive security and traffic plan. Islamabad police sources affirmed that peace in the capital will be ensured at all costs.
They said 3,000 police officers and personnel will be deployed at mosques, Imambargahs and open venues during Eid congregations. More than 2,000 personnel have been assigned to safeguard public places, parks and graveyards. In addition, over 500 traffic police officials will regulate vehicular movement to ensure smooth flow on major roads.
He added that special traffic arrangements have also been made to facilitate tourists visiting Murree during the Eid holidays.
