ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP):The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is set to broaden its footprint in skill development and women’s economic empowerment as it explores a strategic partnership with HANDS Welfare Foundation under the Benazir Hunarmand Programme (BHP).
The collaboration aims to introduce high-quality vocational training and income-generation opportunities for BISP beneficiaries across the country, with a special focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, along with the BHP team, held a meeting with Dr. Shaikh Tanveer Ahmed, Chairman HANDS Welfare Foundation, and Ms. Sumera Javeed, Advisor Networking and Donor Relations at HANDS, at the BISP Headquarters on Thursday.
The discussion centered on potential joint initiatives to equip BISP beneficiaries with market-relevant skills, particularly in healthcare, such as caregiver and nanny training, as well as artisan and craft-based trades.
The two sides also explored cooperation in health, education, women’s self-employment, and public–private partnership models to expand livelihood opportunities.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that BHP is prioritizing high-quality training, structured artisan workshops, improved product finishing, and professional packaging to enhance the earning potential of women.
She said that strengthening economic resilience of vulnerable families remains a core priority of the programme.
Both organizations expressed commitment to advancing a long-term partnership aimed at creating sustainable, skill-based employment pathways and improving the socio-economic well-being of women and low-income households.
