3-day NISE training on enhancing skills in science of speech and hearing concluded

ISLAMABAD, May 30 (APP):The National Institute of Special Education (NISE) successfully concluded its three-day training course titled “Bridge Between Voice and Speech: Enhancing Skills in the Science of Speech and Hearing” from May 27 to 30, 2025.
Organized by the Directorate General of Special Education under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, the program aimed to strengthen professional competencies in speech therapy, audiology, special education and rehabilitation services.
The training brought together 97 participants from across Pakistan, including speech-language pathologists, audiologists, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, special education teachers, researchers, and parents of children with special needs.
The program commenced with a welcome address by NISE In-Charge Noorin Ulfat, followed by an introductory session conducted by Course Coordinator Muhammad Asim. Eight leading experts delivered comprehensive training sessions, covering crucial topics such as early intervention strategies, diagnostic tools for speech and language assessment, assistive technologies including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, audiological evaluation techniques, hearing aid and cochlear implant applications, vestibular disorders, and preventive measures for hearing loss.
Notable faculty members including Sadaf Zafar, Shahbaz Akhtar Khalid, Dr Sajida Mahmood, Dr Sadaf Naveen and Dr Irfan Ahmed shared their expertise through case-based discussions and practical demonstrations. The training emphasized evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and inclusive education approaches for children with communication disorders.
The concluding certificate distribution ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Directorate General of Special Education and prominent figures in Pakistan’s disability sector.
The program successfully achieved its objectives of knowledge sharing, professional networking, and capacity building in the field of communication sciences and special education.
