KARACHI, Nov 27 (APP): Karachi Police on Thursday held a ceremony to mark the establishment of a Minority Facilitation Desk, initiated on the instructions of Additional IGP Karachi Javed Alam Odho.
Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Anthony Naveed attended as chief guest, along with MPAs Mahesh Kumar, Anil Kumar, Khatoomal Jeevan, Surendar Walsey, and senior police officials, said a news release.
Speaking at the event, the Additional IGP thanked the guests for their participation and said the desk aims to better understand and address the concerns of minority communities. He added that increasing minority representation in police training courses and arranging more workshops and guidance sessions for youth would help build stronger engagement.
He emphasized that the goal is to eliminate the divide between majority and minority groups and create an environment of equal rights and trust for all citizens.
Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed said the facilitation desk was a long-standing demand of minority communities and appreciated the Home Department and IGP Sindh for establishing it in a short time. He noted that desks in Karachi and Hyderabad are now functional and will serve as an effective bridge between communities and police.
He also praised DSP Manisha and her team, urging them to ensure personal concerns do not influence their professional duties.
The ceremony concluded with the exchange of shields and souvenirs between the police leadership, officers, and guests.
