Commissioner resolves to make upcoming anti-polio drive successful

PESHAWAR, Sep 27 (APP):Commissioner Peshawar Division, Muhammad Zubair has said that all available resources would be utilized to make the anti-polio campaign a successful attempt to eradicate the chances of spread of this crippling disease from the society.
Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday about National Immunization Days starting from 2ND October to 8th October, the Commissioner directed the deputy commissioners of all the five districts of Peshawar Division to personally monitor the anti-polio campaign.
He said an awareness drive will be started from 28th September during which the refusing parents would be persuaded to vaccinate their children against the polio and administer Vitamin-A drops to their children.
In this regard, he said services and help would also be sought from the Ulema.
The polio teams, he said, would be provided foolproof security and in sensitive areas, extra force would be deployed. The Commissioner warned that officials showing negligence will be terminated from the service.
The meeting besides others was attended by the deputy commissioners of five districts of the Peshawar Division, district health officers, district police officers, local government officers, and representatives from UNICEF and Bill Gates Foundation.
The Commissioner was told that all arrangements for the upcoming anti-polio drive have been completed and a strong strategy has been formulated to make this drive successful.
At the meeting, it was decided that officers including the deputy commissioner of Mohmand district, Dr Ehtishamul Haq and his team would be awarded commemorative certificates for showing the best performance during the last anti-polio campaign.
