RAWALPINDI, Mar 20 (APP): Archbishop of Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Dr Joseph Arshad has extended greetings to Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, particularly to government officials, officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, members of the superior judiciary, the legal fraternity, civil society and the general public in Pakistan.

Archbishop Arshad, in his message on Friday, said that Eid-ul-Fitr symbolised gratitude, spiritual renewal, generosity and fellowship, reminding people of the values of sacrifice, compassion and solidarity with the underprivileged. He noted that these principles were shared across religions and held greater significance in the prevailing circumstances.

Expressing concern over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, he said millions had been displaced while many others were facing hunger and poverty. He also pointed out that rising inflation in Pakistan had made life increasingly difficult for the common man, with even basic necessities becoming hard to afford.

He emphasised that in such challenging times, it was a collective responsibility to share the joy of Eid with those in need and extend support to the less fortunate.

Dr Joseph Arshad said that prevailing social, economic and global challenges called for unity, peace and mutual respect, urging people to rise above differences and work collectively for harmony, justice and the well-being of every citizen.

He also stressed the need to promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation, encourage tolerance, and reject hatred and division.

The Archbishop prayed that Eid-ul-Fitr would bring renewed hope, healing and stability to Pakistan and help foster a society based on peace, love and shared humanity.
