OGRA given Rs27 bn to settle oil-price differential claims

The government on Wednesday disbursed Rs27 billion to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) as the first tranche from the PM Austerity Fund to settle the price differential claims arising from the government’s decision to shield the consumers from the impact of rising oil prices in the international market. 

ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP): The government on Wednesday disbursed Rs27 billion to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) as the first tranche from the PM Austerity Fund to settle the price differential claims arising from the government’s decision to shield the consumers from the impact of rising oil prices in the international market.
The funds, on the directives of the Prime Minister, have been arranged through various expenditure reduction measures implemented within the federal government and deposited in the PM Austerity Fund, said a news release.
Government is also considering additional cost-cutting measures to ensure that the relief to the public is provided while staying within the budget and identifying additional savings.
