LAHORE, Jan 05 (APP):Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra here Monday chaired a review meeting on the achievement of revenue targets.
During the meeting, proposals regarding the establishment of 100 new sectors within the PRA and the induction of new officers were reviewed to further broaden the tax net.
The Chairman appreciated the performance of officers for achieving a record revenue collection of Rs. 149.5 billion during the first half of the current financial year, registering a 35 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
It was also decided to launch structured training programmes for Enforcement Officers to enhance their professional capacity.
Moazzam Iqbal Sipra stated that proposed amendments in PRA laws have resulted in a visible increase in tax revenues. He emphasized that support from other government departments will be sought to ensure greater transparency and sustained growth in tax collection, adding that all possible reforms will be implemented to achieve higher revenue targets in the next half of the financial year.
