Arar May 26 (SPA/APP): Northern Borders Region has commenced the harvest of its rainfed lands for the 2025 agricultural season, a move that highlights the success of sustainable agricultural development and strengthens the region’s contribution to food security and self-sufficiency.
This year’s season reflects a significant expansion in rainfed agriculture. The region now boasts 11,687 agricultural land plots, with some 15,634 applicants participating in this season’s efforts. Agricultural projects are distributed across 15 schemes specifically designated for seasonal rainfed cultivation, underscoring the growing reliance on rainwater for farming in the area.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture stated that the start of Northern Borders Region’s harvest season culminates the ministry’s dedicated efforts to foster and encourage rainfed agriculture, aligning with the goals of sustainable development and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The ministry also emphasized its commitment to empowering farmers, enabling them to leverage natural resources, and providing essential technical and advisory support to enhance production efficiency.
