KARACHI, Oct 22 (APP):Zone-III Whites and Zone-VI Blues continued their winning streaks, while Zone-II Whites also registered victory as three more matches were decided in the Medicam Trophy Under-19 Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament played across various grounds in Karachi.
The day was marked by a historic moment in Karachi cricket — ICC Panel Umpire Salima Imtiaz became the first woman to officiate a match in the city’s cricket history. She supervised the game between Zone-III Whites and Zone-VII Blues at the KCCA Stadium alongside umpire Shahid Aslam, and later presented the Medicam Man of the Match Award to Muhammad Zunair Ali Khan for his outstanding bowling performance.
In that match, Zone-III Whites defeated Zone-VII Blues by seven wickets. Batting first, Zone-VII Blues were bowled out for 142 in 36.2 overs, with Sahil scoring 51 and Arsalan Magsi adding 31. For Zone-III Whites, Muhammad Zunair Ali Khan shone with figures of 4 for 13, while M. Sudais and Muhammad Raza took two wickets each. In reply, Zone-III Whites chased down the target comfortably, reaching 145 for 3 in 24.3 overs, thanks to Salman Sarwar’s unbeaten 67 (7 fours, 3 sixes) and M. Zunair Ali Khan’s 30 not out.
At Annu Bhai Park Ground, Zone-II Whites defeated Zone-I Blues by 78 runs. Zone-II Whites posted 241 all out in 39.4 overs, led by Zain Jaffery (67), Rasheed Yaseen (59), and Haris Javed (45). For Zone-I Blues, M. Asbal and Hussain Haider picked up two wickets each. In reply, Zone-I Blues were bundled out for 163 in 29.1 overs, despite Aleem Mohsin’s 42 and M. Ashfaq Khan’s 26. Saghir Ahmed (3/23) and Hashir Nawaz (2/3) starred with the ball for Zone-II Whites. Zain Jaffery was named Medicam Man of the Match.
In the day’s final encounter at Landhi Gymkhana, Zone-VI Blues claimed their second consecutive victory by defeating Zone-V Whites by 51 runs. Zone-VI posted 214 for 9 in 40 overs, with Malik-e-Ashtar top-scoring with 81 (10 fours, 2 sixes), supported by Rehmatullah (29) and Fawad Akbar (25). For Zone-V, Muhammad Hasnain bowled brilliantly, taking 5 for 34. In reply, Zone-V managed 163 for 9 in 40 overs, with Muhammad Shahzaib (57) and Hasan Jaffri (37) being the notable scorers. M. Sufyan Khan, Abdul Hayy, Ibrahim Khan, and Fawad Akbar took two wickets each. Muhammad Hasnain was named Medicam Man of the Match.
