LAHORE, Oct 07 (APP):Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Director Genera (DG) Muhammad Aamir Jan, along with Development Officer Badminton Asia , Sambanthen Sivaperumal planted saplings outside the SBP Gymnasium Hall,
here on Sunday.
The DG, speaking on the occasion, said that one lakh trees had been planted out of the SBP target of 125,000 throughout the province under the ‘Tree Plantation Campaign’. “All divisional and district sports officers are planting saplings in their respective areas across the province.”
Prior to planting the saplings, both the officials inaugurated the Sports Board Punjab Junior Badminton Championship.
Addressing the largely-attended opening ceremony, Aamir Jan welcomed distinguished guest, Development Officer Badminton Asia Sambanthen Sivaperumal, all players and officials at the Sports Board Punjab Junior Badminton Championship.
Sambanthen Sivaperumal also presented a souvenir to Aamir Jan on
behalf of Pakistan Badminton Federation. The players and officials of
the event were also introduced to the guests of honour.
Aamir Jan said the SBP would extend full cooperation for organisation of Punjab Junior Badminton Championship. “We also extended complete
support for holding of football, hockey, swimming and boxing events in recent past and we will continue this practice in future as well.”
He encouraged young male and female badminton players saying that Sports Board Punjab will provide every kind of facilities to talented players. “Patronising and supporting sports events across the province is our top priority. Sports Board Punjab is making effective efforts for developing games culture in the province,” he added.
The SBP DG also appreciated the services of Secretary General PBF
Wajid Ali for promotion of badminton in the country. He awarded a racquet to young talented player Raza Ali for his excellent performance in International Badminton Series in Dubai.
