Malaysian cyclists arrive Lahore

LAHORE, Jan 17 (APP):A two-member Malaysian cycling team arrived here on Wednesday as a part of their world tour to create awareness regarding deadly disease of cancer.
The cyclists who reached Lahore Wagha border from India were given a rousing welcome by the officials of the Punjab cycling Association, led by their President, Moazzam Khan, Secretary Shahzada Butt.
Talking to APP, Malaysian riders Su Liang and Leehan Yong , they have undertaken the tough voyage to create awareness regarding cancer and to raise funds for building a cancer hospital in Malaysia “We are on a challenging tour on bikes and we are doing it for a noble cause and we are very much delighted to be in Pakistan “,they said.
Both of them said during their stay in India they were told time and again not to travel to Pakistan as a lot of terrorists activities are taking there.
“We were made sacred not to visit Pakistan but it was all baseless propaganda as everything is normal here and we are feeling no security issue and Lahore is a like a home to us “, they asserted.
They said they are being looked after and treated in very good manner the termed the people of Pakistan very kind and generous to their guests. ” We hope that visit of Pakistan will be part of our ever lasting
memories “, they added.
They said it was good to see that cycling is very common in Pakistan and urged the officials of the national cycling federation and PCA to continue their efforts for the overall development of cycling in Pakistan.
“The task ahead of us is very difficult as we will be completing our world journey in two years times but we are fully determined to complete with the help of our undying spirit and hard work to get fruitful results from our trip “, said the duo of Malaysian riders.
The visiting cyclists said they look forward to a comfortable and memorable stay in Pakistan.
Speaking of the occasion, PCA Chief Moazzam Khan praised the courageous mission of the foreign riders for a noble cause and said their contribution for the promotion of cycling and their campaign against cancer will always be remembered.
“We will be mentoring their tour for two years until they finish their voyage in their homeland “,he said adding ” We will be providing them best available facilities during their stay in the provincial metropolis so that they should leave be ever lasting feelings and memories “, he added.
He said the visit of the Malaysian riders will help in dispelling baseless and negative propaganda against Pakistan and will portray a soft image of the country besides giving a positive message to the world that Pakistan is a safe country for sports and cultural events.
