ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (APP):The ITF Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Junior Championship Leg-2 came to a befitting end here at PTF -SDA Tennis Complex, with Ahmad Nael Qureshi winning the Boys Singles title to conclude an extremely emotional week for Pakistan tennis.
Ahmad Nael Qureshi of Pakistan played scintillating tennis to outclass his opponent in straight sets. Nael kept his composure throughout the match and outsmarted and overpowered Shijie to bring home the title.
Senator Salim Saifullah Khan Ex-President-PTF, Aisam ul Haq Qureshi-President-PTF, Col (R) Ziauddin Tufail, And Arif Qureshi Treasurer PTF congratulated Ahmed on the memorable victory.
In the boys singles final, Ahmed Nael Qureshi of Pakistan beat Shijie Chen of China 6-1,6-3 and won the Championship.
In the Girl’s Singles Final, Kira Kalinouskaya of Belarus beat Paramee Tadkaew of Thailand 6-4,6-2 and won the Championships.
Saifullah Khan was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony while Ziauddin Tufail, Col. Sadaf Akram, Saeed Ahmed-SEVP-PTF Col (R) Gul Rehman Director-PTF, Mansoor Ahmmad Khan DDG-PSB and a large number of players, coaches, parents, media persons, and tennis lovers were also present.
Saifullah Khan paid rich tributes to the young and talented Zainab Ali Naqvi- a young tennis player who had come to Islamabad from Karachi to participate in the ITF Juniors Tournaments and passed away on February 12 in Islamabad.
The Ex-President PTF said the tennis fraternity was in great shock and Zainab would be always remembered.
He thanked President PTF for dedicating Court No-1 of the Complex to the memory of the late Zainab Ali Naqvi.
He also reiterated that now he was Vice President of ATF, he would bring more international tournaments to Pakistan. Aisam ul Haq was ecstatic at Nael’s win, which gave his historic win in the PTF elections a triumphant flavour. The Championships was supervised by Arif Qureshi-ITF White Badge Referee.
