ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (APP): Anas Rafay (PAF) in the boys Under-11 category and Sohail Adnan (SNGPL) in the boys Under-15 category emerged as champions as the 4th Aitchison National Junior Open Squash Championship 2025 concluded in grand fashion at Aitchison College on Saturday.
The three-day championship, held from November 27 to 29, brought together the country’s most promising junior squash players and delivered a thrilling finale marked by skill, speed and sportsmanship, said a press release.
In the U-11 boys final, Anas Rafay produced a composed and commanding performance to overcome his PAF teammate Sameer Khan by 3–1 in a spirited contest lasting 29 minutes. After dropping the opening game narrowly, Anas staged a remarkable comeback to dominate the remainder of the match. The score was 10–12, 12–10, 11–5, 11–4.
The U-15 boys final witnessed a masterclass from Sohail Adnan, who brushed aside a determined challenge from Faizan Ali Khan (Army) with a convincing 3–0 victory in just 18 minutes. Displaying exceptional court coverage and precision shot-making, Sohail maintained control throughout the match to seal the title in straight games. The scores was 11–4, 11–4, 11–6.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior officials of Pakistan squash, including Sohail Khan (Vice President, Pakistan Squash Federation), Muhammad Mansoor (Vice President Administration, Pakistan Squash Association) and Mamoon Khan (Tournament Director, PSA). The chief guest, Mian M.A. Shahid, Chairman United Group, distributed trophies, medals and certificates among the winners and finalists.
Speaking on the occasion, officials praised the organizers for the successful conduct of the tournament and appreciated the players for their impressive performances. The chief guest encouraged young athletes to continue striving for excellence and assured continued support for the development of squash in Pakistan.
The championship attracted strong participation from across the country, reflecting the depth of emerging talent in Pakistan’s junior squash circuit. Players competed with notable intensity and discipline, underlining the growing standard of the sport at the grassroots level.
