ISLAMABAD, Jun 12 (APP): Amna Ali Qayum exhibited her brilliance to claim the girls’ under 18 title, outwitting Sheeza Sajid in the final of 1st PTF Development Series Junior National Ranking Tennis tournament-2021 at the PTF Complex, Islamabad on late Friday.
She took the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-2.
In boys’ singles 18 and under semifinal, Nalain Abass overcame Ahmed Nael Qureshi 6-1, 6-1 to look horns with Sami Zeb, who in another semifinal outclassed M. Talha Khan 6-1, 6-1.
Elsewhere, in boys’ singles 16 and under event Uzair Khan progressed to the final after beating M. Huzaifa Khan 6-4, 6-3 in a high quality semifinal clash. The second semifinal was underway till the filing of this report.
A total number of nine fixtures were played on the fourth day.
To avoid the extreme weather conditions matches started at 4:30 pm and continued till 12:30 am under floodlights.
The ITF Covid-19 SOPs are being strictly observed. No spectators were allowed to witness the matches as per government policy.
