KARACHI, Mar 10 (APP): Under the pro-poor social protection and economic sustainability initiative, the Sindh government will provide milch animals to financially strained families across the province in order to lift them out of poverty through economic empowerment.
Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Muhammad Ali Malkani, while presiding over a meeting on Tuesday, stated that the provincial government wanted to extend assistance to the poor people, especially widows and orphans, in every district of Sindh through this program, said a statement issued here.
Declaring the poverty status as basic eligibility criteria for the program, the Livestock and Fisheries Minister said that a province-wide survey will be conducted to collect the data from every union council of Sindh. On the basis of the poverty survey, special focus will be given under this program to the poorer union councils while the findings of the survey could be used for future initiatives as well, he added.
Stressing on necessary steps for ensuring transparency in the initiative, Malkani emphasized that no political or social recommendation will be entertained and only the poor and deserving families will be given the milch animals under this program.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Director Animal Breeding Sindh Dr Jamaluddin Junejo, DG PPRM Sajid Basit Qadri, CEO SRSO Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro and Chief Executive TMF Sonu Khanghrani.
