Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, led by its Chairman Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan along with the other members Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Senator Amir Waliuddin Chisti visited the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Gulshan-e-Iqbal here on Monday.
Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat visits NIPA

KARACHI, Mar 09 (APP):Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, led by its Chairman Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan along with the other members Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Senator Amir Waliuddin Chisti visited the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Gulshan-e-Iqbal here on Monday.
On the occasion, Director General NIPA Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman briefed the members of the Senate Standing Committee about the NIPA and delivered a detailed presentation pertaining to manpower, facilities, courses offered including Senior Management Courses and Mid-Career Management Courses and collaboration with the Sindh government and other institutions.
Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan highly appreciated the efforts of the DG NIPA Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman for extending excellent facilities and services at the Academy and termed these efforts as worth emulating.
He said that he will give some fruit trees to the NIPA for plantation at the urban forest “Miyawaki Forest” being developed nearby academy by the NIPA Karachi.
Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan also advised the DG NIPA to work in coordination with the Sindh Government to highlight the 10 most important problems of Karachi and send report to him.
Talking about a presentation given by the officials of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), he said that the Senate Standing Committee members are not satisfied with the presentation.
He said that we will convene a separate and dedicated meeting of NEPRA and we will also call NEPRA officials and representatives of the Standing Committee of WAPDA, NTDC, OGRA and all the relevant quarters.
Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan said that the Senate Committee members are very concerned about the matters related to the electricity and perhaps the electricity bills is the number issue of the people of Pakistan.
Earlier, Senior Legal Advisor NEPRA, Ahmad Ibrahim delivered a presentation on fuel cost adjustment, privatization plan for distribution companies, transmission bottlenecks, corrective investment plans and solar net metering.
Member of the Senate Standing Committee Senator Atta ur Rehman joined the briefing online.
Later, the Director General NIPA Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman presented souvenir to Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan.
