KARACHI, Apr 06 (APP): Karachi Police carried out extensive anti-crime operations across the city over the past week, resulting in 36 encounters with suspected criminals and the arrest of more than 940 accused persons, a police spokesperson said on Monday.
The operations were conducted on the directives of Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan, targeting street criminals and organised gangs across East, West and South zones.
During the encounters, three alleged criminals were killed, while 44 suspects sustained injuries and 54 accused were arrested. Police recovered 46 illegal weapons of various types and 19 motorcycles from their possession.
In a separate crackdown against narcotics, police seized over 18 kilograms of hashish, more than two kilograms of ice (crystal meth) and heroin worth millions of rupees from different areas of the city.
The spokesperson said more than 153 illegal weapons along with ammunition, allegedly used in robberies and other crimes, were also recovered from arrested suspects.
Police further recovered 86 snatched and stolen motorcycles and four cars during operations conducted in various localities.
