International women’s day ceremony held, DC stresses women’s empowerment

A dignified ceremony marking International Women’s Day 2026 was organized by the Deputy Commissioner Office under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon, in collaboration with the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) at the New Deputy Commissioner Complex Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD, Mar 09 (APP):A dignified ceremony marking International Women’s Day 2026 was organized by the Deputy Commissioner Office under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon, in collaboration with the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) at the New Deputy Commissioner Complex Hyderabad.
According to a handout issued on Monday, the event aimed to highlight the capabilities, achievements and rights of women, girls and reinforcing the collective commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment within society.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon said that the women with whom this day was being celebrated were true role models for society, playing an effective role in various sectors across Pakistan and setting inspiring examples for future generations.
He directed all district officials to ensure inclusive participation of women as well as all segments of society in development initiatives, emphasizing that such inclusion was essential for building a balanced and empowered society.
He remarked that great achievements were reached through small but consistent efforts. In this regard, he stressed the need to organize career counseling sessions in educational institutions, particularly for female students, in order to guide and motivate them and help enhance their confidence and potential.
Speaking on the occasion, women speakers from various walks of life stated that International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that women hold a strong and empowered position in society. They emphasized that, beyond their roles as mothers, sisters and wives, women were making significant contributions in professional and social spheres. They noted that today women were successfully performing their duties even in challenging sectors such as policing and other demanding fields.
The women also shared their personal success stories with the participants, highlighting that women working in both public and private institutions have overcome difficult circumstances, workplace harassment and various social barriers through determination and resilience to achieve their goals.
On the occasion, SPARC representative Tasleem informed the participants that women in the Bricklin Sector were facing serious issues related to health, education and identity documentation.
She stated that the organization, in collaboration with NADRA, took practical steps to address these issues and successfully facilitated the registration of approximately 2,000 previously unregistered women. She added that the organization’s core objective was to empower women, particularly by extending support and opportunities to women in rural communities.
The ceremony was attended by women representatives of the human rights cell, women development department, SPARC, legal aid society, health and information departments, human rights organizations, private school teachers, women lawyers, members of civil society, NGO’s and female students among others.
At the conclusion of the event, encouragement certificates were distributed among participants and students in recognition of their contributions and to motivate them towards continued progress and achievement.
