Work on Peshawar Road, Kachehri projects resume

RAWALPINDI, Mar 25 (APP):Work on the Peshawar Road underpasses and Kachehri Chowk remodelling project has resumed following the Eid holidays, with authorities accelerating efforts to complete the long-awaited infrastructure schemes aimed at easing traffic congestion in the city.
According to officials, construction activities restarted with full pace as labour returned to the sites after a brief pause during the holidays. The projects, considered vital for improving traffic flow on one of Rawalpindi’s busiest corridors, had witnessed steady progress prior to Eid.
Strict timelines had been set to ensure early completion of both the underpasses and the remodelling of Kachehri Chowk. The projects would significantly reduce travel time for commuters and help streamline vehicular movement on Peshawar Road.
Meanwhile, an official from Punjab Highways said that special monitoring teams had been constituted to oversee the quality and pace of work. He added that necessary measures were also being taken to minimise inconvenience to the public during construction.
The Kachehri Chowk project is expected to open for the public before May, as 30th April is deadline for the project completion. Whereas, the diversion plan for Peshawar Road will be placed from March 28 onwards where traffic will be shifted on the one side of Peshawar Road.
Not confirmed yet, but underpasses at Peshawar Road are expected to be completed by July, said an official from the concerned department.
Citizens have expressed optimism, hoping the resumed work would be completed without further delays and bring lasting relief from persistent traffic issues in the area.
