Wildlife Department takes action against illegal hunting, trade in Attock

RAWALPINDI, Apr 03 (APP):The Wildlife Department Punjab carried out enforcement operations in Tehsil Jand, District Attock, taking action against illegal hunting and wildlife trade, officials said on Friday.
During the field activity, one challan was issued for illegal quail netting and a compensation of Rs. 35,000.0 was imposed, while the net was confiscated and disposed of.
In a separate action, two challans were issued for illegal dealing of partridges through social media. A total compensation of Rs. 160,000.0 was recovered, while two grey partridges were confiscated and shifted to Lohi Bher Zoo.
Another challan was issued for partridge netting, with a compensation of Rs. 40,000.0. One partridge was confiscated and later released back into its natural habitat.
Officials said a total of four challans were issued during the operations, with overall compensation amounting to Rs. 235,000. They reiterated that strict action would continue against illegal hunting and wildlife trade to protect biodiversity.
